Researchers from Japan and South Korea have produced a very fine chitin fibers by spinning the chitin which becomes sticky after formic acid treatment. South Korea first realizes industrialization in this area and now they can produce 150-200 kg/day.
According to the scientific personnel from United States, Japan and South Korea, the underwear made from chitin fibers has some special features like antibacterial, health-keeping and anti-moth. The fiber has the nature of silk fibers. Especially the surgical sutures made from chitin fibers can be anti-infection and avoid the pain of removing the stitches.
